The Essence of WITC : NO AFRICAN WOMAN SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND

Despite the significant opportunities and economic growth strides, along with the increasing number of women in leadership roles in Africa, gender inequality remains a significant barrier to progress and well-being across the continent. Women encounter distinct challenges in accessing markets, capital, training, and technology, and they are notably underrepresented in decision-making at all levels, hindering them from realizing their full potential. For example, informal cross-border trade is estimated to account for 60% of all intra-regional trade in East Africa alone, with women comprising 80% of the informal sector. WITC aims to establish a safe haven where African women entrepreneurs can flourish and make substantial contributions to the growth of both the African and global economy.
